Karl
Consultant in Behaviour Change
HCPC-Registered | Master of Public Health (MPH)
My name is Karl, and I am a regulated healthcare professional with a background in public health, behaviour change, and clinical leadership within the NHS. I co-lead The McGilligan Practice alongside Charlotte, supporting children, young people, adults, and families through practical, evidence-based approaches that improve everyday wellbeing.
My work focuses on helping people make meaningful and sustainable changes in their daily lives. Rather than traditional talking therapy, sessions are structured and goal-orientated, centred on developing clear strategies, routines, and skills that reduce stress and increase confidence.
I take a practical and collaborative approach. Together, we explore what feels difficult or overwhelming, identify realistic goals, and create simple, achievable plans to move forward. Sessions often focus on emotional regulation, family routines, organisation, parenting approaches, and building healthy habits that can be maintained long term. My aim is that you leave each session with clarity and concrete next steps.
I commonly support children and adults experiencing challenges linked to neurodivergent traits such as ADHD, alongside difficulties with school stress, executive functioning, family dynamics, sleep, burnout, and general wellbeing. Support is tailored to your circumstances and focused on what will make the biggest difference day to day.
Alongside my work in private practice, I hold a senior public health leadership role within the NHS and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. My experience includes safeguarding, risk assessment, and behaviour change programmes, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, ethically, and within clear professional boundaries.
If you are looking for structured, practical support and clear strategies to help life feel more manageable, this approach may be a good fit. If you would prefer in-depth emotional therapy or space to explore past experiences, Charlotte’s psychotherapy sessions may be more suitable.
I offer an initial consultation where we can talk through what you need and decide together whether behaviour-focused support feels right for you or your family.
