About Us
About The McGilligan Practice
The McGilligan Practice is a psychotherapy-led clinic integrating behavioural health and neurodevelopmental expertise.
Our work focuses on helping individuals better understand patterns in how they think, feel, and respond, supporting meaningful, sustainable change over time.
We bring together depth-focused psychotherapy with structured behavioural insight, allowing us to work across a wide range of presentations. This includes emotional distress, relational difficulties, and more complex or longstanding patterns that may be difficult to fully understand or shift.

A Distinct, Integrated Model
What distinguishes the practice is the integration of psychological, behavioural, and neurodevelopmental perspectives.
Rather than applying a single model, we consider the individual in context, recognising that emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and cognitive patterns are interconnected. This allows for a more complete understanding and a more tailored approach to support.
Our work is formulation-led, meaning we prioritise understanding before intervention. This ensures that support remains thoughtful, proportionate, and aligned with the individual rather than following a fixed or prescriptive approach.
Working with Complexity
We often support individuals where difficulties are not always straightforward. This includes those experiencing longstanding patterns, uncertainty about what is contributing to their difficulties, or a sense of feeling stuck despite previous attempts to move forward.
We also work with individuals who may appear to be functioning well externally, including those managing professional, academic, or personal responsibilities, but who experience internal strain, inconsistency, or difficulty sustaining clarity, direction, or balance.

The Practice
The practice is led by Charlotte, a BACP-registered psychotherapist and Clinical Director, alongside Karl, who brings clinical experience in behavioural health, public health, and structured clinical intervention.
Together, the practice offers a considered and integrated approach to psychological and behavioural support, combining depth of understanding with practical application where appropriate.
Our Aim
Our aim is to provide thoughtful, structured, and professional support that promotes clarity, stability, and sustainable progress over time.
We focus on helping individuals better understand themselves while developing practical, meaningful ways to move forward.
