My Approach

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and founder of The McGilligan Practice. My work draws from several approaches, including person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, and gestalt therapy.

As an integrative therapist, I believe there is no single approach that fits every client or every circumstance. Each person’s experience is unique, and I tailor my work to meet your individual needs. I provide a non-judgemental, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. The therapeutic relationship is central to this process, and I place great importance on creating a safe, trusting environment where meaningful change can occur.

There are many reasons you may be considering therapy, perhaps you are facing current challenges or wanting to make sense of past experiences. Therapy offers an opportunity to reflect on where you are in life and where you would like to be. Together, we can explore the areas of your life that feel difficult or uncertain. Through this process, you may develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and resilience, helping you move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.

In our sessions, we will focus on what matters most to you, what you’d like to understand, change, or achieve. I will listen with care and respect as we work together to help you navigate your challenges and take steps toward your goals.
