Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?
We provide a professional, integrated service offering counselling and psychotherapy, behavioural health support, and neurodiversity services. Our approach recognises that emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and cognitive differences are interconnected, and we tailor support accordingly.
How long are sessions?
All sessions last 50 minutes. This ensures there is sufficient time to explore your needs thoroughly while keeping sessions structured and focused.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. There is no fixed requirement to commit to a particular number of sessions. Some people attend short-term, while others engage over a longer period. Support is always reviewed collaboratively and shaped around what is helpful for you.
What can your services support with?
We work with a wide range of needs, including emotional wellbeing, anxiety, mood difficulties, identity, relationships, stress, life transitions, behaviour patterns, neurodivergence, and general psychological wellbeing. You do not need to be in crisis to access support.
What happens during an initial appointment?
Your first appointment focuses on understanding what brings you to the service, what you hope to gain, and identifying the most appropriate form of support for you. You are free to ask questions and proceed at your own pace.
Do you offer online appointments?
Yes. Appointments are available online via Zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, or telephone, offering flexibility alongside the same professional standards as in-person sessions.
Is the service confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to our work. Information shared is treated with care in accordance with professional and ethical standards. There are limited exceptions in situations involving significant risk, which would be handled responsibly and, where possible, in discussion with you.
How will I know if the service is helping?
Progress may show itself in many ways, including greater insight, improved coping, reduced distress, enhanced relationships, or increased confidence. Your experience will be reviewed regularly to ensure support remains appropriate and effective.
Is this suitable if I’ve never accessed services like this before?
Yes. Many people seek support for the first time. No prior knowledge or experience is required, and nothing is expected of you beyond attending as you are.
Who delivers the service?
McGilligan is a shared service led by trained professionals working independently under a unified ethos of care, professionalism, and discretion. All practitioners work within recognised ethical and professional frameworks.
(If you would like, I can tailor this with your exact accreditation bodies.)
Is there an initial consultation?
Yes. A free 15-minute remote consultation is available to discuss your needs and help you decide how you would like to proceed.
How do I book?
Appointments can be arranged via our contact page or by email. Availability includes mornings, daytime, and evenings.
What are your fees?
Full details are available on our pricing page or upon enquiry.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment. Late cancellations may be chargeable.
